I recently came across a blog post about a neat meeting/group event, held by a LLL group in Washington State. The event, called “It’s a Wrap,” was was an afternoon filled with breastfeeding, nutrition, and baby wearing education for pregnant moms and their support persons (grandmas and dads came too). The new mamas also had the opportunity to sew their own baby sling.
The fabric and sewing machines were all donated and the nutrition information, which included healthy snacks and printed recipes to take home, was provided by nutrition graduate students. Volunteers from a country sewing association helped mothers make the slings. Read more about the event on one of the volunteer’s blog, Pink Chalk Studios.
What a great event to help families get new information and have fun!
